I hate to say "I told you so," but sometimes there just aren't any other appropriate phrases. I am personally flabbergasted that there was ANYONE else who even vaguely considered Monday to be the first day of the week.Regardless of the excellent arguments Jared made in favor of Monday (he can convince just about anyone of just about anything), there is just too much confidence placed in the way the Greeks set things up for even him to overcome.
According to Wikipdedia, a calendar is "A calendar is a system of organizing days for a social, religious, commercial or administrative purpose." So when Jared speaks of "all intents and purposes" he is thinking purely in a corporate setting and completely ignoring all other aspects of life mentioned here.
Actually, we currently use the Gregorian Calendar that was put forth in 1582. In reading the article in Wikipedia, calendar making is a much more difficult process that I ever assumed. So, don't feel bad, Jared, that you are confused.

I disagree by virtue of a lack of cool music videos posted to back up your point.
Now you are really grabbing at straws...
For all we know, you could of wrote that Wikipedia entry...lol
Social, religious, commercial and administrative? I'm ignoring these?
Social: weekEND
Religious: Sunday is the 7th day
Commercial: Corporate world starts on Monday.
Administrative: Don't have a good idea yet.
What religion do you belong to? In the one I am in, Sunday is the day Christ rose from the dead, and therefore is the day of newness of life- new BEGINNINGS if you will.
I concur about the corporate world, and you keep thinking about administrative. As for social, well, um, I can't think of a good response right now, but I will- a darn good one too.
