I'll explain the title shortly.
Without further ado, we are pleased to announce the arrival of Eleanor Claire Southard as of 8:22 this morning. All are well, and we couldn't be happier.
Here's the straight poop.
Yesterday, Diahan was heading headlong into pre-partum depression. The doctor had just told her that she was, indeed, still pregnant - with a long way yet to go. In fact, they scheduled an induction for next week - which made things worse. (Up was down and right was wrong - I don't quite understand it myself.)
With the kids now under the unparalleled supervision of Nona - Diahan's mom, who just flew in the day before - we took a long lunch to take these lemons given to us and find someone to throw them at.
Knowing exactly what I was doing, we went to Curry in a Hurry on 21st South and State.
Diahan loves curry and I knew what I was doing. After a sinus clearing meal of chicken curry, all while being serenaded by Bollywood's finest pop stars, we figured we had a singular chance for a vacation now that Nona is in town. We were never able to make it on that work cruise due to said pregnancy, so we thought of continuing our sabbatical from our kids. But I knew better - we had just eaten Curry in a Hurry.
Playing along, I said we should go out to dinner again - and we did - only to be interrupted by those contractions named after those two doctors. Or so she thought.
She didn't think much of them, so we went home. At 3:00 a.m. it was movie time downstairs due to the cramping doctors. At 5:00 a.m. we were out the door on our way to the IHC megacenter on 53rd. Conjugations were now 4 minutes apart. The lady behind the desk looked at us and said, "I guess you'll be staying."
We didn't even check in before Diahan fell in love with an anesthesiologist named Morris. (His joke was that side effects of his services meant that the ladies come to the hospital in love with their husbands and leave in love with him.) Prior to him, the most famous Morris I knew was a surly tabby who hawked 9Lives cat food and authored 3 books - no joke.
"Block" in place, Diahan wasted no time - at making further passes at Morris. Oh, and Eleanor arrived but two hours and two pushes later.
And in case you are wondering, it was the curry; I knew what I was doing.
Here are the specs:
· 7 pounds 11 ounces
· 20" long
· Dark hair – and lots of it
· A healthy pair of lungs

BEAUTIFUL!!! We are soooo happy for you. We'll have to remember curry for next time. No, wait....
Congratulations you guys!!! We're very happy for you and that it went so quickly! Those doctors don't know what they're talking about. The boys look taken with her.

congratulations! She is so sweet, I'll have to remember that curry thing when my time comes. Three kids now...yikes!
There was one photo I did omit - after she was scrubbed clean by the nurse, she looked like she'd been in a serious fight. She looked like Rocky Balboa: eyes puffy and red, one side of her face drooping a bit. It was all I could do to not put a comparison picture of Mr. Stallone up there also.
Congratulations!!! How wonderful to think of your wonderful family of 5! Enjoy the bliss and endure the annoying stuff (sleepless nights, etc.). It all passes so quickly! Love you guys.
Congratulations! She's beautiful! Your boys are going to have lots of fun with a little sister! Hopefully she won't give them too much trouble.
Conmgratulations guys. We are now even. Two boys and a baby girl... What is next? Some more curry in a hurry?!?!? :) Diahan, you look great...can't believe you look like that after having a baby!! I think you were just holding the baby from the lady next door before delivering your own, were you?? :) Ciao
