April Fooling

Now the real reason for the sudden resumption of blogging.

April Fool's Day.

Last year, as you may recall, we had meatloaf cupcakes and mashed potato ice cream for dinner. This year, however, April 1st snuck up on me. In fact, as late as 11 AM I was congratulating my dear neighbor or on accomplishing all April Fool's festivities at breakfast. She buried leftover Halloween spiders in her kids' orange Julius.

Me? No ideas. No supplies. I needed something cheap, easy, and fast. Lucky for me, I have Jared. A quick Internet search later and we had a plan.

Aside: what did we ever do without the internet?

First step: Identify all the elements of dinner. Everything from utensils to food items to condiments.

Next: Type up said list, print out one copy per person. Cut each into strips, place in cup, as so.

To play: Each person chooses three items from his/her cup. No matter what they are, this is what you get for the first round. So, you may get a fork, water, and pasta sauce.

After everyone has done their best to consume their consumables you get to choose one of your three things to keep, and discard the other two. So, I may choose to keep my pasta sauce.
Then, you get to choose three more ( hopefully one of them is the pasta!).

It was a blast!

Some of my favorite combinations:

Jack eating jam with chopsticks.

Henry drinking his noodles.

And, of course, Eleanor.

I think this may just become a favorite family night activity.
